I find that healing inflamed and sore sensitive tissues is the perfect balance between using heat and cold therapy. To promote optimal healing and relieve pain, I personally found that ice and cold helped keep perineal inflammation low for the first 2-3 days post birth. After the first 2-3 days, I recommend switching to heat by sitting on a heated pad, blanket or heat pack as well as practicing yoni steaming.
